Travel Vaccines

Travel Clinic

Travelers may be exposed to a variety of pathogens and risk, and "20 to 70 percent of these travlers will develop illness, and
1 to 5 percent will seek medical attention."

Each year, some 40,000 Americans die of disease that could have been prevented by routine adult vaccines.

In 2003, over 32 million US residents traveled to international destinations including developing countries throughout the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia, and Africa.

The World Health Organization (WHO) advises travelers "...to consult a travel medicine clinic or personal physician 4-6 weeks before departure if the travel destination is one where exposure to any vaccine-preventable diseases may occur."
